Hey!
For the month of October I’ve dubbed it Scaretober in which I will be blogging every day in October. No, it’s not just random blogs in October but specifically scary movies movies. I’m definitely not one of those girls that enjoys scary movies by any means in fact this is a HUGE challenge for me since I’m such a wimp when it comes down to it. Some of the movies reviewed will be super scary and others will just be 90’s cheesy scary compared to today’s standards. There will be a few days during this month that I will be putting up more than one posts, because sometimes you can’t hold any awesome back when it comes to the blog.

Today’s movie is Dracula (1931)

This movie is the 1931 version done in black & white. The movie begins when a man, Renfield, tells the people of Translyvania that he has an appointment with Count Dracula that evening. The villagers try and talk him out of the appointment that evening insisting that he should go and see him in the morning. Renfield says that he must keep his appointment because it is an appointment. Renfield meets a carriage at the crossroads of the castle and when he arrives at the castle it appears to be abandon. Suddenly Count Dracula appears to greet him and Renfeild tells him that he has instructions to the tee. Dracula replies that he will taking a trip tomorrow, so that is good. Renfield sits down for a bite to eat and then pricks his finger and after he collapses for the night Count Dracula turns him into his servant. Count Dracula and Renfield make their way from Transylvania to London to give Dracula a new hunting ground.  Renfield is then sent to a sanitarium because he appears to be the only man alive on the ship. Dracula then injects himself into society and meets Mina. That night he bites her changing her into a vampire in 3 days. The doctors seem baffled by what they are dealing with until Professor Van Helsing suggests that they might be dealing with a vampire. Professor Van Helsing does some research of his own and discovers that Count Dracula is a vampire. Renfield then confesses to Mina’s family that Count Dracula is a vampire and when Dracula finds out he kills Renfield. Van Helsing follows Dracula to his hideout and then kills him while he sleeps.

I have no idea why I was so afraid of Dracula perhaps it is because of all the stories that surround him. I was not scared at all during this movie and even though it moved quite slowly I enjoyed it. I found that even though Dracula spoke few words the way he communicated to both Renfield and Mina was fascinating. I hope to see you tomorrow with another Scaretober post!
