Hey!
For the month of October I’ve dubbed it Scaretober in which I will be blogging every day in October. No, it’s not just random blogs in October but specifically scary movies movies. I’m definitely not one of those girls that enjoys scary movies by any means in fact this is a HUGE challenge for me since I’m such a wimp when it comes down to it. Some of the movies reviewed will be super scary and others will just be 90’s cheesy scary compared to today’s standards. There will be a few days during this month that I will be putting up more than one posts, because sometimes you can’t hold any awesome back when it comes to the blog.

Today’s movie is The Lazarus Effect

I had definitely heard about this movie before I saw it. This movie stars Olivia Wilde as Zoe McConnel, a researcher who along with her fiance Frank have accidentally produced the Lazarus serum. This serum brings the dead back to life and is set to help the healthcare industry in solving many of their basic problems. Creating the Lazarus serum was not what the group had originally set out to do and once their university finds out the project is immediately shut down. The group completes one successful test on a dog named Rocky before things start to go intensely wrong. The researchers decide to sneak back into the lab on last time to see if they can complete another successful test on an animal and in the process accidentally kill Zoe. Frank grief stricken and not thinking straight decides to use the Lazarus serum to bring Zoe back to life. The serum does bring Zoe back to life, but this is when things start to go very wrong.

As promised I will try not to spoil these movie reviews completely, but let’s just say that we should really learn the lesson not to bring things back to life. I found this movie really creepy especially the effects with Olivia Wilde’s character, Zoe draining all the Lazarus serum into her body. I was able to finish the movie and would recommend it. I was a bit jumpy throughout the movie especially during the parts where Zoe was learning to control her powers. Overall, the movie was fairly predictable as far as movies about bringing things back to life go.

I hope that you are enjoying this Scaretober series and will continue reading along all this month!
